I’m going to start this post by saying that family sessions aren’t really our thing. We specialize in couples and feel most alive and effective when we’re drawing out couples in front of our camera. But of course, there are always exceptions.
And Mark and Sarah will forever be our exception.

This very special couple modeled for us on one of our first styled shoots. That’s when they told us they were expecting their first precious little baby.
When winter came, I started in newborn photography as an opportunity to stay connected with our wedding clients, and soon had the opportunity to photograph the teeny little blessing named Canaan. He’s literally the COOLEST!
This winter I had the sweet privilege of photographing their newest blessing, Wren Penelope (Wren Pen for short). Wren has huge eyes, a button nose, and a supermodel mouth. Watch out, folks. This little girl is going to be a heart breaker!
A Lifestyle Newborn Session
Mark and Sarah are talented artists and their style has always inspired us and our work. So with their encouragement, I chose to embrace a lifestyle family session for Wren’s newborn photos.
When Wren and Sarah were busy taking a feeding break or a diaper change, I photographed Mark and Canaan and got the biggest case of the giggles. Canaan’s little personality has just blossomed and he is so funny!
Watching Mark and Sarah navigate parenthood with striking honesty and love has been so refreshing to me. They don’t have it all figured out and they know that’s okay. They have each other and two sweet children and they count themselves blessed for the beautiful and at times wild journey called life.
